As a combat medic/healthcare specialist, I am responsible for providing emergency medical treatment at the point of injury, stabilizing patients under high pressure, and coordinating evacuation in combat or training environments. They serve as the primary lifesaver on the battlefield, handling trauma, and in clinical settings by supporting doctors.

  • Frontline Trauma Care: Administer emergency care to battle casualties, including treating gunshot/stab wounds, applying tourniquets, and managing airway issues.
  • Patient Stabilization & Evacuation: Stabilize wounded soldiers and prepare them for evacuation by vehicle or helicopter.
  • Clinical Care: Assist with outpatient and inpatient care, perform routine check-ups, and manage sick call-in clinics or field stations.
  • Training & Readiness: Train Soldiers in first aid and Combat Lifesaver (CLS) skills, ASM, hot weather injuries, cold weather injuries, and how to prevent them while maintaining their own combat proficiency with weapons.
  • Vehicle/Equipment Maintenance: Maintain medical equipment and ensure vehicles/ambulances are ready for rapid response and evacuation.
  • Administrative Duties: Prepare medical records, manage supplies, and prepare blood samples for laboratory analysis (cultures, WWE'S, urinalysis etc.)
  • Referrals: maintain up to date point of contacts for all service member referrals (audiology, optometry, dental, cardiology and holistic health and fitness).
  • Medic in charge of coordinating TCCC, BLS and ASM classes as well as cold/hot weather injuries and casualty transportation (load/unload and secure)
