In this position, I have been working as a Safety Assurance System (SAS) Regional Data Evaluation Program Manager (RDEPM) in the Southwest / Western Pacific Region (ASWP) under AFS-290 with oversight of five Flight Standard District Offices (FSDO) and one Certificate Management Office (CMO) totaling 573 certificates in all between 14 CFR Parts 121, 135 and 145. While my original mission was just to support ASW-AWP Front Line Managers with DCT review workload, me and my team quickly moved beyond those expectations and began the following activities: • Collaborated with Operations Research Analysts (ORA)to develop reports • Interfaced heavily with field inspectors and Front Line Managers to educate SAS policy and guidance • Worked with SAS contacts at the HQ level • Discovered new insights and uncovered risks to the organization • Generated 18 SAS “SAFEs” pointing out concerns and enhancement recommendations The impact of me and my team's work has already been felt. Managers in AFS-900, AFS-50, AFS-40, and Regional 290s have been favorably impressed with the information and insights developed by this group, and they see significant value in expanding it to the national level.
I am currently an Airworthiness Boeing 767 Assistant Partial Program Manager (APPM) at the American Certificate Management Office (CMO), which I have the responsibility for oversight of the certificate holder’s maintenance program. The specific fleet that I have this responsibility for is the B767 fleet, which consists of over 73 ETOPS wide-body aircraft. This workload has proved to be a challenge which I have met head on, and completed all assignments in a timely manner. These assignments include ETOPS Maintenance Program review, MEL reviews, Occurrence Investigations, Continuous Airworthiness Maintenance Program (CAMP) reviews and routine surveillance activities. I continually work with air carrier to enhance their process for the compliance with FAA mandated Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins and 14 CFR 121 Regulations. Another duty is to provide the Principal Maintenance Inspector with vital information regarding the assigned fleet’s reliability program, along with other duties as assigned by the office to include a subject matter expert (SME) of the Weight and Balance Control Program, Cargo Operations Manual, Ramp Operations Manual, and the Safety Assurance System (SAS) office point of contact for helping to guide inspectors with data input in accordance with 8900.1 National Policy. I participated in the voluntary SAS Transition and Readiness Team (START) for two years transitioning the joint American/US Airways CMO from the Air Transport Oversight System (ATOS) to the current Safety Assurance System (SAS). I was recognized by AFS 900 for my participation in the START Program and leading my peers in the transition from ATOS to SAS.
