The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) encourages UMB faculty, staff, and students to engage in meaningful volunteer experiences and mutually beneficial community initiatives throughout Baltimore.

• Helped with administrative support by managing 15-20 incoming calls, coordinating files, and sorting mail.
• Completed research, compiled data, and assisted in timely reporting.
• Led group discussions and activities to meet different community needs.

• Met with individuals in need of assistance to assess requirements, determine eligibility, and coordinate support plans
• Planned and led service projects to meet needs of local homeless population.
• Led weekly volunteer team to clean up public parks and create safer environments for community
• Developed communication strategies to promote charity events.

• Conducted 3-4 patient interviews to obtain key information, including health history, longevity of symptoms, and current medications.
• Maintained diligent notes of patient assessments and histories and transferred all information into medical health records.
• Wrote detailed and professional progress notes for each patient, outlining notable events and examinations findings.

• Documented encounters and contacts in full for permanent health records using comprehensive electronic health record software
• Provided literature on available healthcare services to at-risk demographics in assigned neighborhoods
• Engaged in activity-based group meetings with 2-3 peers where discussions examined the social determinants of health

• Took detailed, accurate notes to document ethnographic and contextual interviews
• Assisted with qualitative and quantitative primary research projects, analyzed survey data and took notes during focus groups
• Collected data, synthesized results and analyzed findings to support the direct impact of HIV/AIDs that affects black individuals due to discrimination and ignorance in Baltimore City.
