I am a student at Rowan College of South Jersey studying nursing driven by a profound passion for patient care. I have obtained my Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification and gained valuable hands-on skills through the Virtua EMS program. Additionally, my experience as a Critical Care Tech at Cooper University Hospital has taught me the importance of empathy, patience, effective communication and Advanced Life support skills. I pride myself on being hardworking and eager to learn, constantly seeking opportunities to expand my knowledge and improve my skills. As I continue my studies, I am excited about the opportunities to contribute meaningfully to the healthcare field. I am confident that my dedication and passion will enable me to make a positive impact on the lives of patients.
I started at Cooper, working as a patient companion. My job was to watch patients and make sure they didn't harm themselves. I had done that for a full year, but then I decided to continue my education to advance in my nursing career. Becoming an EMT was the next step for me to gain more hospital experience. I had then decided to become a Critical Care Tech and work in the Trauma SICU. Working in Trauma was a big step for me to see things in a more critical role. In the Trauma ICU, my role was to help nurses and doctors with procedures. Procedures can consist of intubations, tracheostomies, and chest tube insertions. Working one-on-one with doctors and nurses helped improve my knowledge of medication and what to do in a life-or-death situation.
