Work History

Foods Department Manager

Costco
03.2025 - Current
  • Focusing on bringing our overall D&D for the building down. Starting with Departments such as D12, D13, D17, D18, and D19. Currently our overall D&D percentage for the year has gone down 9 basis points.
  • Following up behind our D&D point person, communicating with buyers by email and or over the phone and also making sure the building as a whole understands how they can help impact and help lower D&D as a whole.
  • Working closely with our current Produce Supervisor making sure he is ready for that next role.
  • Always looking for ways to increase sales where I can. Since being in this role I have moved 2 different categories to the Drive side of the aisle and since then have seen a 15% increase between both categories; Condiments and Spices. I also removed the shelves on the Endcaps in the Cooler and Freezer to help get a more cleaner and aesthetic look on our front window. This also allowed us to have all large signs to attract the members to the product on the front windows especially when they are on IRC.

Center Manager

Costco
09.2023 - 03.2025
  • During this role I was able to continue to show my direct managers my knowledge of Merchandising. Showing that I was capable of running the floor when my direct managers were off and even when they were there.
  • I was apart of many successful resets during my time as Center Manager. One of my notable resets was during the 2024 furniture season where I was successful in mapping out and executing the first "Barge" setup in D1, which saw us having a 60% increase in D38, surpassing top buildings like Flagler, Kendall & Davie.
  • While in this role I was also able to help plan and execute weekly Fence resets, Hardlines resets, D14 resets and the most recent OTC reset.

Merch Supervisor

Costco
06.2023 - 09.2023
  • During my time as Merch Supervisor I was primarily in the Hardlines department which is where I was able to show start showing my Direct managers my knowledge of Merchandising off of the Forklift. I am very detail oriented so that helped a lot during my first few months in Hardlines.
  • I communicated with the buying team on a daily basis with Success pictures of Top items for us or even New items that came. I would also communicate whenever I thought a MD was needed or if we could get rid of certain SKU in housewares for example when we were heavy in SKUs.
  • Made sure to map out my Fence every Sunday and make a drop list to make Fence reset Monday's that much easier and smoother.
  • After 3 months of showing my direct managers my skills and potential for continued growth. I was then promoted to Centers Manager.

Forklift Driver

Costco
03.2021 - 06.2023
  • Wanting to grow more with the Company I applied to become a Forklift driver and was thus chosen for this role. Being a Driver is where I can say I learned to lead, prioritize, build efficiency and time management.
  • I drove primarily the Produce and Hardlines. While driving Produce I made sure my priorities besides making pick up was to make sure the Produce coming in off the truck was up to par with Costco standards. I also made sure that the front blocks of Produce were always done before 7AM and that the stockers were always receiving the right Merchandise to stock (FIFO). I was also able to have my department picked up by 8:30AM where I was able to help pick up wine and or help in Hardlines directly.
  • While driving Hardlines I made sure my priorities besides making pick up was to have the Fence and my Endcaps done by 7AM. I would also look out for any Hot items and make the space for any new items I had and shared with my direct manager my ideas for said new items. As I would go around I would also look out for any low and outs and make sure we either dropped those items or if that was all we had then I would make sure we opened up on another item. Depending on steel space I would organize my pallets that needed to either be popped up in Sundries or Foods or sent back to RCV.

Stocker

Costco
10.2014 - 03.2021
  • When I first started at Costco I was a Foods Stocker. This was my first job so it took me sometime to get used to even using a pallet jack let alone stocking merchandise. After getting help from one of the seasoned employees I felt more comfortable and I was able to do up to 4 aisles by myself in Foods alone. I started to find tips and tricks on my own on how to speed myself up or even to make sure the pallet dropped was emptied completely. I also learned to prioritize certain items that actually needed to be stocked and ones that could ride for the day and focus on another item that was lower or even sold out.
  • Around year 2 of my Costco career I went to my direct manager in Foods and asked if I could move to a different department for a change of pace. They told me they were going to put me in D65 Produce, this is where I spent the next 4-5 years before becoming a Forklift driver. During my time in Produce I learned a lot more about FIFO, rotation, being able to spot rotten produce and I learned more about the detail aspect of the business.
  • While in Produce I worked in all 3 sections of the Department. The Produce cooler, the Citrus side and the onion side. I always prided myself in finishing my area the quickest so I could help my peers within the department without sacrificing the quality of the Department. I was also in charge of BBS for sometime when it was moved close to the Produce department.
  • Doing BBS is where I learned to look at sales and based on sales I would slack out a certain quantity of certain breads with shorter shelf life. During my time in BBS we saw a 3% increase in sales and a decrease in D&D which was mentioned in my review.
