I have seventeen years of experience as a law enforcement officer with the City of Whittier. I have worked in multiple capacities with the agency, serving as a Police Officer, Field Training Officer, Detective, Corporal, and Detective Corporal. I have held auxiliary duties, which include being a member of the department's mobile field force team and the department's range staff. I have authored and implemented a red dot transition program, which included a course curriculum PowerPoint, policy review, and an 8-hour live fire transition course. I have been responsible for the successful training of several officers in the FTO program. As an FTO, I have also had to make difficult decisions in the final training phases to recommend removing trainees from the program for failure to perform. As a Detective, I have investigated complex cases requiring extensive search warrants, interviews, reports, and presentations to the District Attorney's office for successful prosecution. In my duties as a Detective Corporal, I manage a caseload and assist in mentoring and developing the skills of members of the detective bureau.
