  • I oversee the crushing of canola seed that produces crude oil which then I would continue to refine and make into canola cooking oil
  • I monitor the prosses through computers in a control room
  • The system once started can run on its own
  • Which gives me time to run samples to insure we are producing a great product, we also take time to current system errors or plant issues that need attention such as cleaning, trouble shooting, faulted valves, leaks, loss of flow exc
  • My job is to ensure the plant is always running while producing a quality product

  • At D&L foundry, I operate a molder
  • Which would make a variety of different molds, anywhere from street iron sewer caps to giant farm machinery weights
  • To make a mold I use a computer to drop sand into a metal structure then I arrange the sand before compressing it into shape
  • A conveyor belt will then take the freshly made mold away to be filled with molten iron
  • Occasionally, something will get stuck in the process, and I would have to go fix the issue
  • For example, the other day melted iron got stuck between two molds and I had to go pry the molds apart, readjust the computer sequence back to its proper placement to continue production
  • I also like to keep my area clean to avoid any disasters
  • There's a moto we by, produce high quality products, produce product faster, produce product safely
