Work History

Senior Design Project

UCR
Riverside, CA
01.2023 - 06.2023
  • I led and worked with five undergraduate students to collaborate with the engineers from Howmet Aerospace to develop an optimal heat treatment for 2618 aluminum alloy to strengthen it's tensile strength with a 500-dollar budget.
  • Organized weekly meetings with the team to collaborate and check in our progress. These meetings made sure everyone was participating in any form of research, work, or testing related to our project.
  • I created a testing matrix to conduct multiple experiments and analyzed the data to find an efficient solution
  • Experiments included high-temperature solution treatment using an electric furnace followed by quenching with boiling water and low-temperature age hardening using the same furnace.
  • The analysis included microscopy, comparing it to online research, and tensile testing to find which heat treatment had the best result.
  • Prepared detailed reports summarizing the results of completed design projects.

Nanotechnology Processing Laboratory

UCR
Riverside, California
04.2022 - 06.2022
  • I collaborated with a fellow student to develop and implement lab safety protocols for the handling and disposal of nanomaterials in the Nanotechnology Processing Laboratory.
  • We worked together in multiple experiments that included included the fabrication of nanoporous alumina templates, the electrodeposition of nickel nanowires, the synthesis of mesoporous carbon, and the synthesis of metal catalysts
  • We created lab reports to summarize our lab procedures, analyze the results, and come up with a conclusion based on the results we had using Excel and complex analysis.
  • The purpose of this lab was to test our knowledge of materials and how they interact with each other at a nanoscale in a lab environment, testing our ability to work safely and efficiently.

Nanostructure Characterization Laboratory

UCR
Riverside, CA
09.2021 - 12.2021
  • Develop skills in using Scanning Electron Microscope, Transmission Electron microscopes, X-ray diffraction analysis, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, and Raman spectroscopy.
  • On-hand experience working with various microscopes and machinery with professional supervision.
  • Lab experiments included identifying various unknown materials using the characterization learned in the lab. Lab reports conveyed what techniques I used to find my results and why it the optimal technique to identify said material.
