Work History

Senior Design Project

NASA-MSFC
08.2023 - 05.2024
  • Utilized systems engineering approach in designing a test fixture and process to create a lunar surface environment for water ice extraction
  • Determined that the water content in regolith can be retained while at high vacuum and cryogenic temperatures
  • Assembled test fixture, calibrated temperature and pressure sensors, ran preliminary tests, and wrote basic LabVIEW for data visualization
  • Used Matlab to plot time-dependent and contour plots of temperature and pressure
  • Won overall presentation award in FAMU-FSU's College of Engineering.

Florida Center for Advanced Aeropropulsion (Undergraduate Intern)

01.2024 - 04.2024
  • Used Solidworks to add bolt holes to an supersonic elliptical nozzle for enhanced mechanical strength in wind tunnel testing
  • Proofread a 300 page doctoral dissertation on dual impinging jets
  • Shadowed graduate students setting up wind tunnel experiments

National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (Research Assistant)

09.2021 - 12.2023
  • Performed critical current tests on superconducting tapes in Liquid Nitrogen to validate expected data from vendor
  • Designed superconducting BSCCO crossover joint and tested in 31.2 Tesla background field
  • Analyzed data in Matlab and Excel; observed that increasing the number of tapes greatly decreased resistance
  • Managed incoming inventory for large scale test coil project

Maglab REU Program (Undergraduate Intern)

06.2022 - 08.2022
  • Used Autodesk Inventor to design test fixture parts for CORC cable flexible lead
  • Tested CORC cable up to 50k cycles in MTS machine in Liquid Nitrogen; discovered failure point after 10k cycles
  • Won second place overall award for 3 Minute Thesis Presentation at end of the program

Maglab REU Program (Undergraduate Intern)

06.2021 - 08.2021
  • Designed and performed test to look at movement in a fiber optic displacement sensor in Liquid Nitrogen
  • Determined that the fiber optic sensors displayed fluctuations outside of expected coil movement
  • Set up and calibrated fiber optic sensors on test coil for research in 40T project development
  • Ran macro programs in Excel to reduce hundreds of thousands of data points to formulate time-dependent graphs
  • Won first place engineering award for 3 Minute Thesis Presentation at end of the program
