I was born and raised in Athens to a family of first-generation immigrants. Most of my immediate and extended family on both sides never completed High School due to living in a rural area in the Mexican State of Michoacán, where education was not seen as a necessity.
Through my personal and academic life, I have hit some pretty serious setbacks. Included being rejected from my hometown school known as the University of Georgia. Despite this, I was determined to be a Bulldog no matter what. I put my head down and attended the University of North Georgia's Oconee Campus to start my coursework in order to transfer to UGA sometime during my sophomore year.
