  • Research Indian Boarding Schools in the U.S. to reveal key data, such as how the institutions were funded, who operated them, what tribes attended the schools, where they were located, etc.
  • Create historical narratives that provide facts and information about the schools, sourced from archival records and other primary and secondary sources.
  • Cultivating relationships with church groups and archivists, universities and tribes, and federal institutions such as the National Archives and Records Administration.
  • Present research at national conferences to inform interested parties of the importance of the work. Facilitate and moderate research webinars that help inform and educate the general public about Indian Boarding School history, Federal Indian Boarding School policy, and intergenerational trauma.

Accomplishments

Helped to create the nation's most extensive list of U.S. Indian Boarding Schools in collaboration with the Department of the Interior.


Worked in collaboration with the University of Minnesota School of Public Health and the Great Lakes Intertribal Epidemiology Center to develop course material for a Public Health class that examined the relationship between intergenerational trauma and commercial tobacco use in pregnant American Indian women.
