Work History

Motor Vehicle Operator

Calverton National Cemetery
01.2021 - Current
  • As one of the more senior Motor Vehicle Operators in the Interment department It falls upon me and my crew to prepare the daily interments required to fulfill our set mission in a safe and efficient manner. Daily missions can vary due to the scaling up or down on burials which give me a wide range of access to different skill sets and job training.  On busy days if required of me I can dig first interment graves in a upright set aside section using preplace monuments and paperwork given to me. On slow days where I might need to help other sections like the grounds Crew I can properly help dispose of hanging branches or dying trees with no little no supervision. As someone that likes to learn as much as possible to be the greatest help they can I routinely try to expand my skill set by learning how keep different pieces of  heavy up and running, learning how other departments which do not have the same time constrains keep to a schedule and take any training offered to me. During the Covid 2020 pandemic where Calverton burial rates went to extreme highs I was on the front lines working 14 hour days 6 days a week to keep the Calverton operational but it also gave me a chance to learn how my wage 10 supervisor and work leader prepare and delegate assignments to keep crews flexible which I have taken into my own when dealing with high stress problems
