I pride myself in being a very punctual and on time person. I am an honest and hard-working individual who is open-minded and flexible to new ideas and changes. I am also a creative person who likes to find new creative ways of doing things, and I am also a driven individual who feels we never are too educated not to continue learning and growing. The past 2 years I was a Intervention Specialist who prided myself working in a cross categorical room of 5th-8th grade students, teaching them all curriculum and academics. I also taught STEM to 6th-8th grade students this past year. I worked with a SPED unit teaching others how to not just write IEP's but how to conduct them. My last year at Ontario I was a substitute teacher with Ontario City Schools preschool through high school. It also included working in the Intervention classes in both the high school and middle school. I was teaching most weeks 3 days and finished my last 6 weeks as a permanent substitute teacher for 2nd grade, which required doing and following lesson plans and submitting grades, teaching all areas of studies, instructing children that were struggling in class with the materials given. Although my teaching experience has been minimal, I feel it has been impactful. I feel that my social work skills allow me to be not just a good listener to what the kids needs are, but it allows me to be adaptive in many situations. I feel this could be very impactful in your school especially as an Intervention Specialist and the many differences between needs of the students. I have a combined 10 years of social work and teaching experience. I was a veteran rep for Richland County for 7 years and dealt with many veterans seeking benefits. This was from hearing loss to sexual trauma. I have dealt with many people from many ages and genders and treated each the same and had a heart felt compassion for their issues. As a substitute I used the same skills with the children. I listened to issues to try and help solve learning issues, small fights between each other, and also helping those who were excelling in areas to help those who were struggling without making them feel less of a person.
