Joshua Linares

As an urban greening intern my position focuses on transforming urban environments into green spaces by restoring barren land into biodiversity hotspots through removing introduced species, and planting native flora that facilitate pollinators and keystone species. We mainly operate in Willow Springs and work hard to maintain the park and educate the public on the importance of healthy local ecosystems. I am extensively involved in the urban tree planting program, community engagement, and environmental awareness through events held across Long Beach.

As a dietary aid I am tasked with delivering nourishment and supplements to our patients. I help set up the food tray to their preference so they can comfortably eat and feel assured that they are properly cared for. I strive to provide excellent customer service to our patients so they can recover peacefully and enjoy their stay.

As a volunteer at the farm I helped pick, wash, and package vegetables/fruits from the farm for donations and purchases. I assisted in crop cycling, building structures like a trellis for vegetables to grow on, planting seedlings, watering crops, and actively engaging in waste reduction by recycling water and repurposing old materials.

I helped open this franchise and fulfilled my role as a lead by guiding my team of cooks on the line to ensure smooth, efficient service for our guests. I took inventory for our produce, checked temperatures for the refrigerators and Alto Shaams, and organized the walk-in and freezer. While cooking with my team I communicated and supervised food allergies and cross contamination.
