Job overview

  • I use daily communication via email, office phones and radios between other members of management, clerks, spotters, and buyers.
  • I utilize a WMS (Exceed) or EXE at Jewel Osco to track orders, release waves, close routes for loads, print labels for the selectors, print reports to enter into my THRUPUT Excel spreadsheets, to determine workload for the day and coming days always optimizing staffing and shedding labor when needed.
  • Union warehouse so I must look at our forecast and our workforce for each day, and call the work hours based on our CPH from the selectors and how much remaining work at that time daily. I must call hours by the 6th hour daily.
  • Attend meetings daily in person and via Microsoft Teams with members of management from our DC and other DC’s to go over goals, THRUPUT, KPI’s, CI, Inventory, and overall ways to improve.
  • Hold Pre-Shift meetings daily to discuss workload, safety, stretching, and any union/company/safety topics.
  • Run reports daily and follow company policy when disciplining associates for not reaching daily/weekly goals per the union contract, with a union steward present to witness and sign off on documentation, along with the associate and myself.
  • Be present on the warehouse floor and in the office throughout the entire shift to ensure all my floor associates have everything they need and my office clerks also are in great shape.
  • I use a transportation system called PINC to attach routes to trailers, move trailers to and from our dock doors to and from the yard, and take trailers or dock doors out of service if need be so spotters know not to use.
  • I supervise the overall operations of the entire Shipping shift on days as Jewel only ships during the day. Another supervisor runs the receiving operations on the night shift as that is when Jewel receives.
  • I report directly to the warehouse Superintendent.
