Work History

Lead Academic and Behavior Support Staff

New Story Schools
01.2022 - Current

As a academic and behavior support staff I work in a classroom each day supporting the teacher academically by working one on one with the students, assisting in explaining material, or presenting material given to me by the teacher. This includes intensive table teaching (ITT) in a verbal behaviors classroom, live skills, or more traditional academics in higher functioning classrooms. On the behavior side I collect data daily for each students behaviors according to their behavior plan and submit it to their behavior consultants. I also provide physical support for more violent or destructive behaviors and I am trained in the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) to utilize de-escalation techniques to maintain safety in the classroom for all students. Finally as a lead I mentor new staff and provide them with a resource to rely on in their first few weeks as well as being a resource for any staff with questions about the job. As of January 2025 I will have worked at New Story for three years, and for one and a half of those years in a lead role.
