With unwavering determination and a compassionate drive for success, I embarked on my journey as a substitute custodian for the Fullerton School District. Through hard work and dedication, I gradually transitioned into a full-time position, initially covering morning shifts for the head custodian and later taking on night duties. Over the span of three to four years at Fullerton, I developed a profound love for the job, the responsibilities, and the school environment. Serving as a role model for students and supporting the staff further ignited my aspiration to advance in my career and realize my dream of becoming a head custodian.
In 2021, my family and I relocated from Orange County to Menifee, California, where I secured a full-time position with the Hemet Unified School District. As a new member of the Hemet Unified team, I was eager to demonstrate my commitment, work ethic, and collaborative spirit to excel in all tasks required of me as a custodian. Starting at Valley Vista Elementary as a night custodian, I approached my responsibilities with determination, dedication, and hard work, earning the respect of the administrative staff, my colleagues, and supervisors.
After proving myself at an elementary school, I embraced the challenge of transitioning to Acacia Middle School to test my abilities in a new setting. Through perseverance and dedication, I successfully met the demands and workload of a middle school environment, earning the respect of both the administration and my coworkers. Following a year at the middle school level, I sought to further challenge myself and enhance my skills by requesting a lateral move to West Valley High School. Once again, through hard work and dedication, I achieved success, gaining the trust and respect of my peers and the school administration.
Having worked across all three levels of education with a steadfast commitment to success, I have not only excelled as a night custodian but also as a valued team player always willing to lend a hand. With aspirations and dreams of becoming a head custodian, I believe that after eight years in my current role, I am prepared to take on the next challenge and fulfill my ambitions. I am eager for the opportunity to showcase my skills and contribute to creating a clean and welcoming working environment for the school district.
In my role as a custodian, I have honed a variety of essential skills required for the job These include expertise in tasks such as floor maintenance, which encompasses stripping and waxing floors, carpet extraction, and replacing light fixtures Additionally, I am proficient in operating a range of floor scrubbers, including Zamboni machines, walk-behind scrubbers, and high and low-speed scrubbers, to effectively fulfill all necessary duties
