Summary

As a Registered Nurse for almost 30 years, I have been able to develop my nursing skills starting in med/surg/tele. I had the experience of working in Neuro/ICU at Memorial Regional and then expanded my skills to the perioperative setting where I have prepped patients for surgery, precepted incoming nurses, and learned the Charge Nurse role.

  • After receiving my Clinical Ladder 3 (RN 3) status, I transferred to Memorial West in the preop setting. I participated in teaching our surgical department on the ERAS protocol that was implemented by our anesthesia team. I covered as a Charge Nurse for our Clinical Managers which coordinates with the OR and manages staff assignments to provide excellent patient care. I have precepted incoming nurses to the perioperative setting.
  • In 2025, As co chair to the inpatient readiness committee, I assisted with the educator to teach floor nurses the expectations of prepping a patient for surgery. I initiated for nurses to receive 2 credit hour which I applied to my RN3.

  • I began my perioperative journey working in the 'specials' unit prepping patient for surgery that required central and arterial line placements for surgery with our Anesthesia team. I learned the Charge Nurse role under the direction of the Clinical Manager. I initiated the clinical ladder program.

  • I learned critical care nursing under the guidance of experienced nurses. I learned how to care for patients with highly acute illnesses and with injuries from trauma.

  • I started working in the Memorial Healthcare System in the float pool. I had the experience going to the med/surg/tele units.
