Registering Emergency Department patients into computer system. Entering billing information into computer system, receiving payments on accounts, answering and transferring calls. Helping ED staff when needed, including CPR.
Collection of blood via venipuncture. Receiving urine, stool, semen and other body fluid for processing. Specimen processing in outpatient setting. Cross trained to inpatient lab phlebotomy due to staffing shortage.
Phlebotomy. EKGs, wound care, CPR, urinary catheter placement, sterile field set ups, cleaning/stocking rooms and patient transport to inpatient floors and radiology. Assisted with sutures, splinting and pelvic exams. Anything else requested by nurses or MDs within my scope of practice.
Answer phones, order entry, sending results. I took a phlebotomy class at Methodist hospital while employed in this position then cross trained into phlebotomy. Also did phlebotomy in NUrsing home settings.
