  • Began building my adult English language teaching experience as a volunteer at the ESLC, assisting the lead teacher by teaching one class per week. After 3 months I applied to become a part-time staff instructor.
  • Currently lead instructor for two emergent reader classes meeting in total five times a week. Each class meets in a community center localized for the convenience of the students attending.
  • Student demographic: Serving refugee populations living at or below the poverty level; who did not progress beyond a 6th grade education; and never had the opportunity to learn to read or write in their own language.
  • Level of Instruction: Basic literacy skills, with a great variety of experience and ability within a classroom and am therefore required to draw upon multiple teaching strategies and methodologies to meet the needs of and challenge all students.
  • Substitute in intermediate classrooms as well and enjoy a great rapport.
  • Am excited by the challenge of teaching all levels and helping students to lift themselves up to a greater understanding of themselves, their environment, and their potential.
