At this facility, I continued to grow as an entry-level OTA and I was able to demonstrate a greater contribution to the patient's therapeutic goals.
Under the guidance of an experienced COTA, I learned about a COTA's role in the SNF setting, DME, documentation, adaptation, therapeutic use of self, and group therapy.
I was able to successfully handle a full caseload at the end of my eight weeks with minimal assistance and navigate the everyday challenges. Eventually, my patients slowly progressed, working with the interdisciplinary team to discuss changes in POC.
In addition, I learned how to transfer safely for me and my patient, assess safety, precautions; while being creative with patients who were unable to leave their rooms.
