Hello Combine Neighbors,
My name is Julian Castaneda and I am running for a seat on the Combine City Council where I will represent our community. My goal is to move our city forward into the future, but at the same time keeping Combine country. I've been married to my beautiful wife over 34 years and raised two young professionals, who love spending time with us here in Combine. I enjoy my free time outside with my goldendoodles, longhorns, and most of all appreciating nature and wildlife.
I retired from the Department of Justice (Federal Bureau of Prisons) in 2020 and relocated back to Combine, Texas in 2023. My family loved the Combine community and country living which motivated us to return to this area. I am a disabled Army Veteran who proudly served our country from 1987-1995. After leaving active duty, I joined the US Army Reserve while employed as Firefighter, Emergency Medical Technician and HAZMAT Tech for the City of El Paso from 1991 to 2000. I was a proud member of the following teams: Search and Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, High Angle Rescue, and Chief's driver on occasions. After 9 years of service, I decided to pursue a career in law enforcement and joined the Federal Bureau of Prions (BOP). I began my career as a correctional officer and worked diligently to learn the BOP policies and procedures. After my first year of service, I was awarded the Correctional Officer of the Year and immediately promoted to the environmental and safety department. Through my career in the BOP, I was promoted numerous times where I served in positions of increased responsibility to include, Safety and Environmental Compliance Administrator, South Central Regional Safety Administrator, and National Fire Protection Specialist, Occupational Safety Chief, in Washington D.C. In addition, I served as the Deputy Administrator of the American Correctional Accreditation and Prison Rape Elimination Act branch, which prepared federal institutions for national accreditation where I provided guidance and support to 122 CEO's and safety and environmental offices within the BOP. During my last two years of government service, I returned to retire from the South Central Regional Office in Grand Prairie, TX, where I served as the Regional Safety and Environmental Compliance Administrator.
With my experience and common sense approach, I intend to assist in guiding our community in the right direction while depending strongly on my faith, family, and community.
