  • National Work: Qualitative and quantitative research with the New Mexico Department of Health and the University of New Mexico to draft a social marketing approach for reducing morbidity and mortality from flu and pneumonia in the 65+ age group of the Navajo community within San Marcos and Mckinley Counties, NM. This work delved into an understanding of social norms and the broader psychographics of the community.

  • Directed the social media campaign strategy for the Maternal Child Health Desk during the H1N1 emergency, working collaboratively with both the Division of Reproductive Health and the National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities. Ms. Hentz's work was honored with an “Excellence in Emergency Response Award, CDC/ATSDR for Communications on the Emergency Maternal Desk, H1N1 and Pregnancy, for using social media channels to promote urgent, expert CDC messages- 2010”
  • Directed and produced a series of four short (4-minute) video vignettes in partnership with the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO), depicting singular stories (1) describing the health improvement of people with disabilities, (2) in-home monitoring and education of parents with a preterm child, (3) reaching Hopi and Navaho tribal communities in Arizona with folic acid and educational materials about neural tube defects, and (4) the benefits of early identification of children with autism. All videos were Section 508 compliant and captioned. They reinforced successes from federal funding.
