I begin my career in the electrical field and moved over to the telecommunications industry with a company called CTIS that performed contract work for Comcast. I felt I had reached my potential and decided to make the move to become an In-house employee with Comcast and quickly excelled to the highest tech level within just a few years along with being awarded with Technician of the year. I advanced my career further becoming employed with Level 3 Communications in 2015 where the majority of my telecom experienced was acquired working for a Tier 1 ISP with a large network footprint and customer base in Nashville market. The following are some of the attributes I believe makes a great technician. Experienced with a good mix of installations and troubleshooting. Efficient with relevant tools such as light meters, OTDRs, red lights, and test sets, and familiar with various types of testing like RFC, BERT, H2H, and throughput. Empathetic to customer concerns caused by network issues, fibercuts or lack of product knowledge. Able to mentally walk through each step of upcoming installations to identify potential problems, material issues, or site access issues. Draws on past experience to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly, to restore services as soon as possible. Flexible and adaptable to new changes and processes in the telecom industry and technology in general. Punctual, detail-oriented, and takes pride in their work, treating every job with the same care as if they were the customer themselves. Persistent in providing updates and managing the progress of current and future projects.
