Working at the Greater Newark Conservancy both entailed practice with hands on garden work but also a different perspective into community gardens and sustainable agriculture. This volunteer experience allowed me to experience group work and task completion while understanding the different sociological undertones of community gardens.
During this volunteer opportunity I gained experience in plastic pollutant collection as well as data entry of each plastic type. Along with general litter collection, I also gained experienced working through team coordination and tasks.
During my time at this location I worked closely with staff on the floor to service the front section of the store including sanitation and maintenance. Additionally, when dealing with customers I assisted with customer relations and problem resolution. Most importantly I also assisted with food preparation and production on and behind the sales floor.
