I grew up on a cattle ranch of about 1800 mother cows working for my dad in my teenage years. This is where my love for livestock and agriculture began. I learned very many important aspects of cattle management. Things that always seemed to stand out to me were animal health and reproduction. I love branding and weaning time and administering correct vaccines to the calves to improve herd health and performance. From there I decided that I would like to try other jobs in the agricultural industry and found a job working for a nearby farmer. There I learned a lot about farming and running farming equipment. I mainly ran the swather cutting alfalfa and cutting grain. I would also drive silage truck transporting the silage from field to a feedlot. Then I went to school in Rexburg and worked for a feedlot where I was feeding cattle both inside and outside the feedlot. I would process calves when they were born and learned a lot from this job about animal nutrition and health as well. Lastly I needed a summer job that paid more money so I can afford to keep going to school and I was hired at a welding plant called Trails West Manufacturing. There I welded horse trailer frames and learned how to work on an assembly line. While I did this job the cattle industry is still where I desire to be. I'm studying animal science with a desire to work in the cattle industry either in animal health, nutrition or reproduction.
