Communication & Leadership

I am excellent communicating with my co-workers and teams. I have always been able to promote my ideas to others clearly. When I began with the City of Durango I implemented a spread sheet to track and organize all fire hydrant repairs and maintenance throughout the city. This type of data recording was never used in the city and became an integral part of daily operations. With Deer Hill I continued this practice in development of fleet and facility records. At StoneAge I built and implemented a driver policy to include a commercial vehicle program that satisfies FMCSA compliance. I strongly feel organization and good record keeping is vital to excellent communication in a fast paced atmosphere. As a supervisor I have refined my communication skills. In many positions I have been required to motivate and organize crews from varying backgrounds while keeping other supervisors and managers involved with the everyday maintenance of projects. I have taken on many different responsibilities above and beyond the expectations of my positions and I enjoy the challenges. I do not feel your title defines you as a leader. I am a good leader because I consistently use good judgement within any operation. I am a natural leader and often find myself taking control of projects that need extra organization and planning. I developed vehicle training practices and procedures for Deer Hill’s Field Staff and interns. I spear headed traffic control necessities in the Utility department. I obtained a nationally accredited certification as a Traffic Control Supervisor through ATSSA. Doing so I have changed the mindset of colleagues and promoted safer working conditions for many crew members and the traveling public.
