My academic interests have evolved over time, while remaining focused on serving children/young adults in need. I have explored, via shadowing/volunteering several therapy career paths that include the following: OU Child Life/Occupational/Speech/Physical/Behavioral therapies. I also volunteered three half days per week one summer at a special needs daycare. Throughout my senior year (2024/25 academic year), I volunteered daily in the Special Education room at my elementary school. Students in this autism classroom often have additional diagnoses (ODD, PDA, Pica, non-verbal/hearing impairment, and tourettes). Working with atypical/diverse students strengthened my understanding of the challenges of these students and their families. Giving back to my school was an honor and significantly grew my passion for the Human Development and Family Sciences field!
