Work under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist in the Acute Care and Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit (IRU), providing therapy to help patients develop and improve daily living skills.

  • Create and implement tailored treatment plans with a focus on recovering functional independence, particularly for patients with long-term sickness or disability.
  • Provide Hands-on therapeutic interventions, such as ADL training, mobility exercises, and cognitive rehabilitation.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, which includes physicians, nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists, and speech therapists, to ensure patient care and treatment are integrated and continuous.
  • Monitor and document patient progress, therapy response, and any changes in medical status, and convey them to the supervising occupational therapist (OT).
  • Support patients in managing medical equipment such as ventilators, tracheostomies, and feeding tubes, assuring their safe use during therapy sessions.
  • Educate patients and families about therapy techniques, home care strategies, and adapted equipment for post-discharge rehabilitation.
