Work History

Switchboard Operator

St. Luke's Des Peres Hospital
05.2020 - 05.2025
  • As the hospital's single point of contact for all callers, increased hospital-wide communication and productivity by processing many inbound and outbound calls per month in this small hospital. Served in a critical front-line role, answering life-or-death calls and then applying the correct emergency code. Did a great deal of making up lists for the Department, including Extension Lists, Explanation of Emergency Codes, many lists for Supervisor and Manager, which included Data Entry. Provided Patients, families, staff and visitors with outstanding customer service. This was a very small hospital, so the calls were not in abundance, especially working Weekend Night Shifts on Part Time basis. Analyzed individual patient needs and then directed patients to the proper location/department, including patients and families experiencing stress and sadness due to critical illnesses and diseases.
  • Resigned in May 2025, due to Hospital closing.

Receptionist

Lutheran Senior Services
08.2017 - 03.2019
  • During my shift, answered the phones, put in orders for Maintenance (via Computer), updated different Lists of our employees, RNs, and CNAs. I took care of admissions that came in and transferred, and directed the EMT's that bring in the new Residents. I sorted the mail. I kept track of all of our new admissions, discharges, leaves of absence, and room transfers, and made sure our Emergency Book was always accurate and updated with our Residents Listings. I would run Census Reports. I typed up Name Tags for our new Admissions. Talked and helped the family members that came in and would have any questions, comments, requests, etc. I made reservations with Family members, beauty appointments, and reservations when a room was needed for family gatherings for birthdays, holidays, etc. I made copies, scanned copies, when necessary through our copier, and faxed copies when requested. Took care of the faxes that came through to make sure they went to the correct employee(s). I worked with the Director of Nursing, and the ADON's of the Care Center, and helped them out when requested with clerical jobs and Projects. Most of all I loved working with the elderly and their families.

Switchboard Operator/Call Center

Barnes Jewish Hospital
05.2016 - 02.2017
  • As the Hospital's single point of contact for all callers, increased hospital-wide communication and productivity by processing 4000-4500 inbound and outbound calls per month in this extremely very fast paced, high pressure setting. Served in a critical front-line role, answering life-or-death calls and then applying the correct emergency code by paging overhead, and paging the individuals that were part of that particular Emergency code.
  • Quickly and accurately entered data for a variety of different positions and departments-usually around 7000 KPSH. Gained expertise using their AMCOM communications software program. Provided patients, families, staff, and visitors with outstanding customer service.
  • My shift (2nd) also required the Switchboard Operators to be the first contact for patients needing their Doctor's that were on call, as some of the Doctor's utilized the Switchboard to be their answering service from 5P to 8A the next morning. We took down the information that was needed, and contacted the Doctor on call and gave out the information to them. We also, at the request of some of the Doctor's, put the patient on hold, while we got hold of the Doctor, and then transferred the patient directly to the Doctor's line.
  • Analyzed individual patient needs and then directed patients to the proper location/department, including patients and families experiencing stress and sadness due to critical illnesses and diseases. Had to resign due to a scheduled surgery I had to have, with a long recuperation period.

Clerical Coordinator

01.2014 - 12.2015
  • Answered phones, scheduled, cleaned, and cleaned up with customers I was in contact with. Pulled and filed charts, collected copays, and payments, and processed. Updated Customer Lists with Microsoft Word. Operated and sorted mail, filed, copied, scanned, and faxed. Checked and composed EMAIL using Microsoft Outlook.

  • Backup for the Main Switchboard Operator/Receptionist duties in front lobby during the day, and answered the SBoard every evening from 5P to 7P to cover the West Coast area.
  • While in the front lobby, greeted visitors, logged in shipments for employees, delivered mail to all ADP Unemployment Group employees, and miscellaneous clerical work, while manning the front switchboard, directing callers.
