  • In my position as a CBP Agriculture Specialist, I contribute to a safer and more secure future by delivering expert insights on inspection, analysis, intelligence gathering and law enforcement activities, related to the importation of agricultural and commercial commodities at ports of entry.
  • My key responsibilities include:
  • Knowledge of laws, rules, regulations, programs and procedures concerning import/export of agricultural merchandise, cargo, or personal possessions to the United States.
  • Knowledge of agriculture laws (e.g. USDA Port Program Manuals, such as the Manual for Agriculture Clearance, etc.) and the policies and procedures for their application in a passenger environment.
  • Inspecting travelers and agricultural commodities. Assessing the admissibility of agricultural goods to prevent the introduction of invasive pests, biological threats and animal diseases.
  • Preventing agroterrorism and bioterrorism: Detect and prevent deliberate acts involving biological agents, toxins, and selected threat.
  • Intercepting pests, Safeguarding prohibited/regulated detained commodities for other agencies.
  • Utilizing USEC, EMIS, SEACATS, ARM, TECS, BESA and other application.
  • Collaborating with other component of CBP and outside agencies (USDA, USFWS, CDC and FDA), such as-
  • Interagency collaboration between CBPAS, CBPO, BTOS and CDC ensure effective regulation of 500 pieces of biological samples (Human Tissue).
  • 2. joint operation of CBPAS & US Fish and Wildlife service (USFWS) to regulate Giant African snail and Sea cucumber which are endangered species. (CBPAS & USFWS).
  • 3. Synchronized regulation of Counterfeit items and excise duty taxes for gold valuing over $10000usd. (CBPAS & CBPO).
  • I was instrumental in identifying and seizing a substantial number of prohibited agricultural items, totaling approximately more than 100 Significant Agricultural seizures. These efforts were pivotal in preventing potential threats to our agriculture. My work was highlighted in the Agricultural Monthly report and CBP JFK Port Director’s Weekly Highlights, underscoring the impact and importance of these actions.
  • I successfully identified and enforced 20 civil penalties so far within FY 2024. These penalties underscore the rigorous efforts taken to ensure adherence to CBP/USDA standards and regulations. My proactive approach in identifying violations and implementing corrective actions has positioned our terminal as a model for regulatory compliance.
  • Capable to submit pest submission / detection and interceptions with a sixty percent positive rate.
  • Wrote more than 100 SAIR’s, most of them has been selected for agriculture monthly report.
