Kara Welker is an Executive Producer working with Ron Howard and Brian Grazer's Imagine Entertainment. She currently holds a unique position within the company, covering all departments, including film, television, documentary, kids and family and branded. Prior to this role she was President of Imagine's talent management division.
Kara was a Founding Partner of Generate - a content studio and management company, which was acquired by Alloy in 2012. As a leading talent manager and producer Kara oversaw Generate's client roster of actors, comedians, writers, producers and directors. For the past decade, she has been instrumental in shaping the careers of talented individuals, influencing comedy and popular culture, in both scripted and non-scripted television, film and digital.
Kara began her career while still in college, working at the Irvine Improv before taking a position at Messina Baker Entertainment, where she developed long-standing relationships with noteworthy comedy talent. Following Messina Baker, Ms. Welker joined 3 Arts Entertainment, where she continued to focus on comedy talent management. Later, she launched The Rath-Welker Company with Dave Rath. As partner in The Rath-Welker Company, she has managed some of the most prolific minds working in comedy and produced instant comedy cult hits such as WonderShowzen (MTV), The Andy Milonakis Show (MTV), Comedians of Comedy (Comedy Central) and Jimmy Kimmel Live. Kara has continued to produce and sell notable comedy such as the Great Minds with Dan Harmon, Whitest Kids U' Know, Black and White, Failosophy and several 1 hour comedy specials (see partial list below). She has worked with show-runners, actors, writers and comedians across the landscape of TV including Saturday Night Live and developed young talent out of The Groundlings and the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater. She has represented and worked on teams with Rebel Wilson, Jenny Slate, Patton Oswalt, Janeane Garofalo, Drew Carey, Amy Poehler, Brandon Scott Jones, Kevin Hart, and many many others.
