Karisa Tsering

I volunteer at the Mississauga YMCA in the aquatics field, and my experience with them has been going great. What my day-to-day volunteering looks like is usually shadowing other instructors as an example helping them with their lessons and giving demonstrations to the students I work with. Volunteering here has given me really great work experience and has really given me the idea to what an actual job as an instructor would be like.

Growing up I was always the older sister and always the one who had to look after my younger cousins, Due to the fact of me being the oldest out of my siblings and cousins. Taking care of children became very natural to me. When it comes to either dealing with certain situations or helping a child when they need it. Many others and I would say I am fairly very good at handling it. When I would babysit, it would usually be for about 12 hours every weekend. The kids I babysat were eight and five years old. I would set a routine up for the day and follow through with it. Sometimes the activities in our days I would set up for them would be water painting, baking and some physical activity. Taking care of my employer's kids made me happy in general. I have a really big motherly instinct for children.
