Karol Swilley Hey

I teach in a general education PreK classroom in a rural community. I have adapted instructional techniques according to student learning styles and progress. I promote positive behaviors using Conscious Discipline strategies.

I taught in a general education Prek classroom. Students were mostly from low-income families. I taught using the Frog Street Curriculum with Heggerty strategies, Conscious Discipline techniques used for behavior modification, and worked with data teams to improve overall instruction.

I taught a CBT class and developed IEP's with staff, service providers, and families to provide the students with a learning program that would best meet their individual needs. I used the Unique Learning System for our curriculum and to meet state standards and benchmarks.

Developed and implemented IEP's in the Early Childhood Special Ed classroom. Helped in coordinating family events and social events for faculty and staff. I became certified in Early Intervention in 2019.

Created and implemented developmentally-appropriate curriculum using The Comprehensive Curriculum and state mandated benchmarks and standards. Assessed students using traditional portfolios and TSG online portfolio assessments. Received highly effective ratings when evaluated by ECERS , CLASS, and COMPASS.

Taught first graders at an inner city school. I taught reading ,math , social studies, science, and language arts. Proud that one of my first graders went on to be valedictorian of his high school!
