Kassy McCoy

I’m a driven and outgoing Bachelor's of Science Communication Studies major at James Madison University (Class of 2026), concentrating in Health Communication with a Minor in General Business. My academic background, combined with a diverse set of leadership and professional experiences, positions me well for roles in medical sales, pharmaceutical sales, and healthcare marketing.

Prior to JMU, I competed as an NCAA Division II student-athlete on the Women’s Swimming team at Rollins College, where I also served on the Student Athletic Advisory Committee. At JMU, I’m an active member of Zeta Tau Alpha - Gamma Kappa Chapter, currently serving as the Sales & Promotions Chair and previously on the Recruitment Committee. I also serve as the Vice President of Communications and Marketing for Madison Sales Club.

As a former collegiate athlete, I excel in team-driven, high-pressure environments that demand quick thinking, resilience, and adaptability. My passion for the medical field has been strengthened through firsthand experience working alongside first responders, where I developed a deep appreciation for fast, clear communication and trust-building—key competencies in medical sales and healthcare outreach.

• Implement time management while devoting 20 + hours per week to training while maintaining NCAA eligibility and balancing a full academic course load
• Assisted teammates to set and achieve both individual and team goals

This research explores the barriers individuals face in accessing, understanding, and utilizing health information to make informed decisions about their well-being. By analyzing community needs and existing resources, our team aims to develop strategies that enhance health literacy, improve health outcomes, and promote equitable access to healthcare services. Through this experience, I am strengthening my research, analytical, and communication skills while gaining valuable insights into public health initiatives and community engagement.
