I would describe myself as a dynamic and dedicated tutor with experience at Northfield High School, skilled in fostering academic growth through patience and empathy. I have a proven ability to enhance student performance and engagement, utilizing critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Additionally, adept in collaborative environments, demonstrated through successful internship at Rocky Mountain Theater for Kids. Finally, I have enhanced these skills with one-on-one babysitting experience where I learned to develop strong multitasking skills.
I first started my journey as a tutor in my 'Math Lab' class. This class taught me how to effectively tutor kids in specific areas of math, science, and world history. I also learned how to handle situations such as a difficult tutee or fellow tutor. I then took this experience and I applied it to start my journey as a tutor. Now, I volunteer after school to tutor freshman at my high school in their selected areas of struggle. This has allowed me to gain experience as a tutor who is not being assisted my a teacher, and I greatly enjoy being a tutor. I continue to tutor after school, and tutoring not only allows my tutees test scores to go up, but mine as well.
I have worked as a babysitting for many years, but only started working for a salary last summer. As a babysitter, my duties included played games, worked on puzzles, and read books to young children. I also organized and cleaned home after activities by picking up toys and straightening up play room. This taught me how to maintained a clean and organized environment to ensure the well-being of children under care. I also learned how to manage a situation where a client is unsatisfied by my work, and how I can effectively alter my work. I continue working as a babysitter after school and on the weekends.
In this job, I was an intern for the theater camp production of 'The Greatest Showman'. I greatly enjoyed this opportunity because it taught me how to manage many different situations at once in a calm and collected manner. As an Intern, I was mainly charged with keeping the campers in line along with behind-the-scenes work. This included designing and editing scripts, helping with dances and songs, along with helping backstage during the production (ie: moving props, set pieces, and costume changes). Similarly, I collaborated with other interns to advertise for my specific session of the camp, along with sessions at a later date.
