- While working the full-time position as a record support specialist at America First, I was also a Certified Shorthand Reporter taking depositions for the firm, as the in-house court reporter. I would take pop-up depositions that would come up locally (also in East Texas and Central Texas) and would transcribe them on my own free time as a independent contractor and would in turn receive both a 1099 and a W-2 from America First. America First was then acquired by DepoTexas and later rebranded as Lexitas in 2017. I transitioned to account management in 2016 and did not return to court reporting.
