Student Research Assistant to Nathan Hancock, PhD, Kenneth Roberts, PhD, and Priscilla Redd, PhD

  • Assisted in the analyzation of yeast genes' effect in transposition of the mPing element.
  • Utilized techniques such as gel electrophoresis, polymerase chain reaction (PCC), plasmid isolation, and multiple assays.
  • Analyzed data via plasmid sequencing.
  • Compiled a detail lab report and completed a research poster and presentation which was selected for distinction within the department.
  • Facilitated discussions on the relation and significance of transposable elements within human genetic diseases.

  • Investigated subpopulation asynchrony and disease persistence within sunfishes.
  • Performed necropsy to further examine parasite species within the eyes, gills, heart, liver and digestive tract via stereomicroscopy.
  • Completed a research presentation that examined refraction as a solution of generating asynchrony in parasite populations.
  • Gained knowledge on how to conduct and design an independent research protocol.

  • Assisted in sponsoring the Diversity Initiatives' Annual Drag Show.
