· Maintain law and order and protect life and property to include:
· Patrol assigned geographic area; receives and responds to dispatch calls; investigate and take appropriate action on assigned calls; conduct security checks of businesses, parks, public buildings, industrial areas and residences.
· Maintains traffic control through observation, detain and tests drivers suspected of driving under the influence; issue citations and/or make arrests for violations of laws and ordinances.
· Prepare incident reports; attend and testify in court on cases investigated or reports written; respond to natural and man-made disasters.
· Transport prisoners; locates defendants and serve criminal warrants; assist with crowd control and security assignments at various public gatherings or incident scenes; report hazardous conditions on public roadways and bridges.
· Conduct surveillance; provide assistance to the public as needed; provide information and guidance regarding victim’s rights; work with code enforcement; conduct and prepare investigations of vehicle accidents; assess victims and render aid to the injured prior to EMS arrival; request assistance of other agencies including emergency and tow services.
