Work History

Registered Nurse

Medical City Plano
10.2022 - Current

I have been a labor and delivery nurse at Medical City Plano for 3 years. Over the last three years, I have gotten the opportunity to grow as a nurse and person tremendously while working on a level 4 maternity unit. Our unit is like an ER, L&D, OR, and ICU all at once. I have developed many personal relationships with patients and helped to deliver lots of babies into this world. I have learned patience, kindness, empathy, and most importantly therapeutic communication through being side by side with patients on either the best day of their lives or their worst. My main responsibilities are to provide support and care for women during high risk antepartum stays, during birth, and during high risk postpartum periods. I act as circulating nurse in the operating room for cesarean sections, D&Cs, or hysterectomies while also providing pre-op and post-op care.

  • Supported physicians in both planned and emergency Cesarean section procedures.
  • Worked closely with doctors in coaching pregnant women through childbirth and post-natal recovery.
  • Coached new mothers with breastfeeding techniques, postpartum self-care and infant care to promote easier transition into motherhood.
  • Assisted physician during delivery, examination and surgical procedures by anticipating needs, encouraging patient, and attending to baby after birth.
  • Responded to emergency situations such as pre-eclampsia, early labor, and fetal distress.
  • Developed and implemented strategies to improve labor and delivery processes and patient outcomes.
  • Conducted comprehensive physical assessments and assisted with pain management.
  • Participated in evidence-based practice project implementation, nursing competency development and nursing simulation activities.
  • Provided skilled, timely and level-headed emergency response to critically-ill patients.
