The Donor Services Coordinator II serves as a valued member of the Donor Services Team. The position delivers quality customer service at all times for its stakeholders (i.e. partner Organ Procurement Organizations-OPOs, partner tissue banks, partner eye banks, referring hospitals, medical examiner offices, funeral homes, and recovery team members), and requires high-level organizational skills in a fast-paced environment and attention to detail while multi-tasking.
This position is comprised of three major functions: (i) referral intake and triage of potential donor cases, (ii) comprehensive medical screenings, and (iii) managing case logistics.
My current role is the primary approacher for my team. Working 12 hr. night shift (remotely). One work week consist of a 36 hr. work week and the other consist of a 48 hr. work week with 1 mandatory on call day during the month. However, there are consistent overtime options available.

Receive and evaluate potential donor information from medical professionals to determine donor suitability for tissue, organ and eye donation. Approach donor families - must be able to approach and converse with grieving families regarding tissue donation within the first 24 hrs of their loved one death. Must be able to clearly communicate and explain the donation process while adhering to precise legal guidelines. Coordination of the donation must be done in a professional and sensitive manner. A professional attitude is imperative while interacting with Dr's, nursing staff, Medical Examiner's offices, hospitals, Funeral Directors and any other entities regarding end of life situations. Expected to follow up with donor families when needed, must be able to give explanations when things don't go as planned. Excellent time management skills required and the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a very fast paced environment. Must have the ability to think ahead - MUST be able to foresee potential problems before they occur. Must be able to manage a large, fastpaced work volume and multiple projects while rapidly adjusting to changes and procedures.
