The nursing facility in Pomeroy provided me with the opportunities to acquire my CNA and then 3 years later helped me acquire my CMA. With these certifications I was part of the long-term care team providing the residents with assistance completing their activities of daily living. As a CNA I helped residents with bathing/hygiene, dressing, ambulation, eating, transferring, completed restorative work, along with many other tasks that are expected to be completed as an aide. As a CMA I was able to administer medications to residents throughout the evening and into the bedtime hours.

Worked in the facility’s attached assisted living where I was responsible for helping tenants with minimal tasks throughout their daily lives. This included assisting with bathing, basic housekeeping, laundry, and completing other small tasks requested by the tenants. Meals were cooked and provided to tenants with the option of eating in their rooms. Administration of medications and completing treatments per the MAR under a RN was also expected.

Started in the kitchen as part of the dietary team working as a trayside on evening shift where I provided residents with their drinks and meals that were of nutritional value. I provided alternatives as well to allow variety and choice. Taking note of resident intake of food and fluids was of importance.
