Summary

I recently retired after 31 years with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections. While the majority of my career I worked with adult men, I also spent 12 years working with female offenders as well. It may surprise some you that I am applying for jobs outside of my wheelhouse, I am ready to learn new things, and bring a wealth of experience working with people.

Work History

Unit Manager/Corrections Specialist

  • Supervise a unit of 500 incarcerated men, 15 correctional officers, and 5 social service staff.
  • Complete Quality Assurance on case plans, security reviews and programming completed by Program Specialists.
  • -Complete Quality Assurance on discipline given by Correctional Counselors.
  • -Monitor bed moves, safety and sanitation, Incarcerated men's day-to-day activities. If something is out of the norm and it is noticeable, address that issue with that incarcerated person and, if needed, reach out to other Holistic services within the institution, such as medical or mental health.
  • -Monitor ORAS compliance.
  • -Assure PREA compliance.
  • -Coordinated with many outside agencies for their participation in Reentry Fairs or as needed, with clients.
  • -Coordinate service for men as they were released. Including housing, treatment, job seeking and other necessary services.
  • -Monitor the count process by Correctional Officers.
  • -Complete staff yearly and probationary evaluations.
  • -Plan and execute family events that allow Incarcerated fathers to have a less restrictive visits.
