Maltese Emergency Surgery Snapshot (M.E.S.S) Study
Aim: To investigate the number, indication and post-operative outcomes of emergency Laparotomies performed within the Maltese population over a one year time frame with an intent to improve the Maltese emergency surgery service. To draft a statistically and locally validated morbidity and mortality risk prediction score for patients undergoing emergency laparotomies.

The Effect of introducing Rivaroxaban on the National Formulary on the incidence of Upper GI bleeds
Background: Upper gastrointestinal bleeds represent a good percentage of admissions at the authors local hospital. The authors have observed an increase in incidence of upper GI bleeds since the introduction of Rivaroxaban on the National formulary.
Aim: To establish whether there is an increase incidence of upper GI bleeds with the introduction of the NOAC Rivaroxaban on Malta’s National Formulary.
