Summary

Just a former, enthusiastic first grade teacher - turned new mom - who left too early. I chose to step away from teaching when I became a mom and it was painful. I left on such a high, with an incredible bond with my students, a passion for showing up for them and an incredible community of educators around me. Eagerly looking to fill the void of teaching and community I jumped into a mommy and me fitness class. It showed me a new outlet for teaching by becoming a fitness instructor for postpartum fitness. I was able to create fitness classes around a single theme or games, dances and books. They were my new lesson plans and I was ecstatic. It reignited my spark for teaching to create, help women and entertain their kids during my classes. It truly filled a void I knew I was missing. Now that my family has been at CDS for five years, I have seen this community first hand and can’t stay away. It always brings me so much joy to walk onto this campus to volunteer and step back into a classroom. With all of these opportunities to be involved I now know my time as a teacher was cut short. I believe school is truly my happy place and know that I still have more to give for myself, my family and future students.
