Throughout my journey, I've demonstrated resilience, leadership, and a deep commitment to growth, both academically and personally. I finished highest honors in school with a 3.9+ GPA and it goes for out of school also. Whether volunteering at my church, supporting my family through medical challenges, or striving for excellence in the classroom and on the soccer field, I’ve shown the ability to adapt, lead, and push forward. I bring a unique perspective shaped by my cultural identity, service experiences, and unwavering drive to make a difference.
Tutoring students is something I take seriously because I like helping others understand things that once felt confusing. When I tutor, I explain lessons in simple ways and break big problems into smaller steps so they are easier to learn. I stay patient and encouraging, even when a student is struggling, because I know everyone learns at their own pace. I make sure to listen carefully so I can understand what they need help with.
I have strong communication skills, so I can explain ideas clearly and in different ways until they make sense. I am organized and prepared, which helps each tutoring session run smoothly. I am also good at motivating students and helping them feel more confident in their abilities. Tutoring has helped me become more responsible, supportive, and reliable, and I enjoy seeing students improve because of the help I provide.
Being an assistant coach at Eastside FC is a great experience. I help support the head coach, Tariq Walcott, by setting up drills, keeping players focused, and giving tips to help them improve. I watch how Coach Tariq leads the team and learn from the way he explains plays and motivates everyone. During practice I help correct technique, encourage players when they get tired, and make sure the team stays positive and works together. I also help during games by giving feedback to players on the sidelines and helping with substitutions. It feels good knowing I play a part in helping the team grow. Being an assistant coach teaches me responsibility, patience, and leadership. I enjoy seeing players gain confidence and skill over time, and I am proud to support Coach Tariq and Eastside FC.
This is exactly why this opportunity means so much to me. It’s more than just earning my first paycheck, it’s about stepping into the real world with a chance to make a difference. I want to work not just to gain experience, but to share the joy and passion I’ve always had for the game. Whether it's helping someone feel included, creating memorable experiences, or simply spreading the love of soccer, I see this job as a way to impact others while growing myself, and working at a restaurant would give me so many beneficial things I could use in my future life ahead of me.
