I began my career in public safety when I was approximately thirteen years old when I became a cadet firefighter, once I turned eighteen years old I was put on as a basic firefighter where I successfully passed firefighter one and two. I would later move into an supervisory role where I served on the board of directors that assisted the Fire Chief with budgetary concerns for the department. During my tenure as a volunteer firefighter and ultimately my last three years with the fire department I was appointed by two different Fire Chiefs to serve as a Fire Officer with the official title of Safety Officer which meant that I was responsible for the safety of the fire scene, equipment, protocols, and staff etc.
I have dedicated a lifetime to public safety, from working as a volunteer firefighter, reserve police officer, correctional officer, communications officer, and eventually a full time police officer. I have participated in patrol, canine, bike patrol, an emergency services unit (SWAT), FTO, Instructor, Investigator etc. while being a police officer.
