Kevin Armitano Rozinay

Participated in the SCRI Summer Scholars Program, a 9-week undergraduate internship designed for groups historically underrepresented in science and medicine, to do research in SCRI labs or on research teams, and participate in career development training.

Worked within the Treuman Katz Center for Pediatric Bioethics and Palliative Care in Kraft lab to assess preliminary findings of a study of parent experiences of relationship building within neonatal clinical research.

• Worked with a multidisciplinary team to remotely track the movement of syringes in the hands of anesthesia providers to supply data for a tracking AI.
• Performed statistical and quantitative analysis with SPSS.
• Worked both independently and collaboratively in fast-paced laboratory environment.
• Collected research data through experimentation, surveys and leading focus groups.
• Assessed videos of anesthesia cases to filter PHI for use by the annotating team. Supplied clips on a video database for ease of access and documentation by the programming team.
• Gathered, arranged, and corrected research data to create representative graphs and charts highlighting results for presentations.

• Checked assignments and proctored tests according to university standards.
• Prepared course materials, demonstrated and taught fundamental techniques in molecular biology.
• Supported classroom activities, tutoring, and reviewing work.
• Studied and implemented latest information on specific subjects and learning strategies.
• Assisted professor and TA team with classroom management to maintain ego-free learning environment. Acted as a student advocate.

• Worked with a team of botanists to remotely assign coordinates to the locations of flora specimen throughout the PNW to track distribution patterns of species over time.
• Assessed images of plants to indicate the stages in the life cycle of plants, specializing in Boraginaceae, Rosaceae, and Fabaceae.
• Provided technical descriptions of over 40 species on the database to be used by Botanists and Naturalists. Wrote and edited treatments to be added to Flora of the Pacific Northwest.
