The Behavior Support Teacher collaborates with the District Behavior Specialist and campus teams to ensure high-quality implementation of individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs), positive behavior supports, and crisis prevention strategies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Instructional Support & Intervention ● Provide direct instruction and support to students receiving itinerant behavior services as outlined in their IEP and BIP. ● Implement evidence-based classroom management and behavioral strategies, adjusting interventions to meet individual student needs. ● Develop and support individualized academic and behavioral goals, ensuring alignment with ARD committee decisions and district expectations. ● Collaborate with general education staff to support student inclusion and the generalization of behavioral and social skills across settings. ● Perform other duties as assigned by the campus administrator or Director of Special Education. Behavioral Data & Documentation ● Collect and analyze student behavior data, including frequency, intensity, and duration of target behaviors. ● Monitor progress toward IEP goals and make instructional or environmental adjustments as needed. ● Maintain clear documentation of services provided and outcomes observed to support ARD committee reporting and district analysis. Collaboration & Coaching ● Partner with the Behavior Specialist to provide classroom coaching and modeling of proactive behavior management strategies for campus staff. ● Participate in functional behavior assessments (FBAs) and ARD meetings as the special education instructional representative. ● Assist in implementing point systems, reinforcement schedules, and crisis response plans in collaboration with campus teams. Crisis Management & Escalation Protocol ● Respond to behavioral crises in accordance with training and district procedures, including the use of Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) techniques as appropriate. ● Serve as a resource for campuses in managing high-risk behavioral situations and supporting debriefing efforts following significant incidents.
