As a Rotational DJ at KTSW 89.9 FM, I curated and broadcasted live music programming across a variety of genres, engaging with a diverse audience through both pre-planned and spontaneous playlists. I was responsible for selecting music that aligned with the station’s theme, time of day, and target demographic, ensuring an entertaining and cohesive listening experience.
In 2024, I graduated from the Honors College, where I completed a capstone thesis exploring obesity trends within the Latinx community, titled "The Immigrant Paradox and Obesity". My research compared the prevalence of obesity among recently immigrated Latinx individuals to that of more acculturated (second-generation) Latinx populations. This project involved extensive data collection, analysis of demographic health trends, and examination of cultural and socio-economic factors influencing health outcomes. The findings of my research were presented at the Honors Research Conference, where I had the opportunity to engage with faculty and peers, receiving valuable feedback and contributing to ongoing discussions on public health disparities within immigrant communities. This experience allowed me to strengthen my analytical, writing, and presentation skills while deepening my understanding of health disparities and the immigrant experience.
